What is the difference between an abridged and unabridged audio-book? HELP?

B/A Awarded

An abridged version of a book is a shortened version of the original book and usually cuts out some of the (arguably) non-essential text while keeping the main parts of the story intact.

An unabridged version gives you the complete version.

Hope that helps!

    UNabridged = you get 100%

    abridged = you get 69-80% – the necessary stuff to make it work

    all the best

    e.g. (for example) Charles Dickens was paid by the word
    so David Copperfield is 387 pages
    probably get the whole story in 20 – hehehehehehehehe

    up to 50 CD?

    Abridged audio-books have cut a lot of the text, it’s supposed to be text you won’t miss but it tends to be everything that gives a book "atmosphere".

    And why do Americans think Dickens was paid by the word – he was not! Some of us wish he had been, so there would have been more to read.
