i always find websites that offer free ebook/audio book but the books are always the classic ones.
The Harry Potter series is not legally available as an ebook; the publishers haven’t released an ebook version. Twilight is available (for $11) at http://www.ebooks.com/ebooks/book_display.asp?IID=287099
Many free ebook sites only deal with classics that are outside of copyright; however, some also carry creative commons works that have been released as free ebooks.
feedbooks.com
manybooks.net
mobileread.com (the forums have free ebook uploads in several formats)
baen.com (has some free ebooks, and some paid, but all are offered w/o DRM)
tor.com (has occasional free ebooks for members (free registration) and regular short stories & other goodies)
craphound.com (Cory Doctorow’s site; it only has his ebooks, but there’s a lot of them)
And even sites like ebooks.com occasionally offer popular books as freebies.
However, most publishers haven’t been convinced that ebook giveaways increase paper sales, so they don’t offer the books for free. And while there are illegal books offered through many torrents and other places not reachable by google–not many people are willing to tell you how to break the law in a public post on Yahoo!Answers.

The reason you can only find classics available is because of copywrite restrictions. Newer books are still under copywrite, so you cannot legally download these for free – you have to buy them.
However, most libraries offer audiobooks that you can borrow. That would be a good place to start. You might have to get on a waiting list for some of the very recently released titles,
If you e-mail me, I can tell you where I get my audiobooks (for free and not off torrents).
