I need to find a free audio book website so i can listen to "Misery" by Stephen King.

pleaaaase help me out.

Sorry but what you want to do is stealing a book.

Unless Stephen King puts the audio on his website for you to download, it is stealing!

"In a civil suit, an infringer may be liable for a copyright owner’s actual damages plus any profits made from the infringement. Alternatively, the copyright owner may avoid proving actual damage by electing a statutory damage recovery of up to $30,000 or, where the court determines that the infringement occurred willfully, up to $150,000. The actual amount will be based upon what the court in its discretion considers just. (17 U.S.C. 504)

Violation of copyright law is also considered a federal crime when done willfully with an intent to profit. Criminal penalties include up to ten years imprisonment depending on the nature of the violation.

And if he does, will it be released as an audio book (CD format) that you could buy in a book store?

He already has. It’s called The Stand and I’m sure it’s already long been available as an audio book.
The problem with this whole `great American novel’ tag is that it’s always poorly defined. What exactly IS `the great American novel’?
Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, Moby Dick by Herman Melville and Catcher In The Rye by J.D. Salinger have all been pointed to as `the great American novel’ and they’re as different from each other as possible.

I think `the great American novel’ would be a book which comprehensively explores what it means to be an American, what Americans value, how they behave, what they value, as well as exploring the sheer enormous scope of the American landscape and, despite the supernatural elements present, I think The Stand does all of that and does it well.

A long time ago, I listened to an audio book of a Stephen King novel. In it, there are flashbacks where the main character is in a house with his father (and maybe brother?) and his father always calls him "Scooter" or "Scooter, you ol’ Scoot!" I remember the flashbacks end around the time his father goes crazy and kills a worker from a plant that was coming to check on the father since he hadn’t been to work in a long time. There was also something about a large amount of money ($700?) in a jar that was burned or ripped up or in some other way destroyed, and that’s when the son ran away. If anyone remember’s the name of the novel to which I’m referring, I would really appreciate your help. Thanks so much!

Definitely Lisey’s Story, I’ve just finished reading it!

Does anyone know a site to download newish (Stephen King) talking books for free? I have a partially sighted friend who wants some.
Thanks

Hi,
I’m not sure if this may help but, ( being a Software Engineer ), I was recently involved in adding features for partially sighted people to some web sites. A subject vastly overlooked by designers I might add! I added useful things like maginifying paragraphs by using the mouse etc. Anyway, to the point. During my research I came across a number of sites that catered for partially sighted people. If you take a look here then it may lead you to other more useful resources;

Hope this helps and best of look.

Stand By Me is my favorite movie and I want to read the book it was based off of, but all i can find is the audio book version.

The body is actually a novella and you can find it in King’s collection called Different Seasons which is a collection of four novellas that correspond to the title four seasons hence four different novellas.

I heard that they did. Or you have to condition yourself to fall asleep to them.
but i’ve also heard that they can weave into your dreams once you fall asleep, and right now my only audio book is one of Stephen Kings novels.. not a good idea haha.
I have a problem falling asleep, not too serious to be called insomnia but enough to make me sleep and dead the next day and crash in the afternoon, i’ve tried quite a few techniques but hardly any seem to work.
any ideas?

I have rediscovered guided meditations, relaxation, self hypnosis with NLP (Nuerolinguistic programming). I have just used a meditation CD designed to stop smoking and I am 4 days "clean" and have had very few cravings.
I have just bought another meditation CD from this ebay store and they have one for chatty minds that need sleep (also available in MP3 format for instant download for Australian$15)
I Love love love the concept of NLP and guided meditations and just chilling out in general.

Good luck.

Oh exercise might also be worth a try – 30 min walk a day should help you nod off at night.

I am looking to purchase a couple audio books but I have a feeling that they don’t exist. I know there are torrents for "The Stand" but I want to buy them legally. The audio books I am looking to buy are:

1. "The Stand" – Stephen King
2. "Swan Song" – Robert McCammon

Thanks guys.
Thanks but everyone so far has sent me links to where i can buy the regular books. I’m not that dumb. I would like to know where i can buy the AUDIOBOOKS, not paperbacks. Thanks.

I last downloaded ‘Stephen Kings – The Mist’. An audio book, i ve never read/heard of these kind of books. But i really liked it on my mp3.

This book had people screaming in the background and all these sounds that yu also hear in a movie. But without the screen.

Can you guys recommend me some good audiobooks, with special sounds and stuff?

Thanks for reading this! =)

Most of the audio books I have heard (probably over 150) don’t have sound effects, but most have the narrators doing character voices and some have some intro/exit music on each tape or disc.

Some of the books that do have sound effects are the audio versions of Star Trek and Star Wars books, especially the NPR Radio broadcasts of the three original movies, which are quite entertaining to listen to and feature a little more of the story than is shown in the movie.

The Harry Potter books and the Discworld books of Terry Pratchett also feature excellent audio versions with very talented narrators. Jim Dale, the narrator of the Harry Potter books is probably the best performer of all the books I have heard. Some of the Discworld stories also feature versions that were done for BBC radio, and feature cast recordings, and are quite well done, though are abridged versions of the books.

The Gutenberg Project has tens of thousands of books, poems and audio readings available for free download…

http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/main_page….

If, by chance, there is something you can’t find there… then one of my English professors gave me this site, which is basically the same thing and was put together by the University of Pennsylvania:

All copyrighted material is illegal to download. Here are some sites that have non-copywrited material for reading:
