It’s by Stephen King and while I liked his early stuff, I stopped reading his work around the time of The Dark Tower. Someone recommended "Buick 8" and so I got the audio book for a driving trip. I loved it and wonder how other people liked it.

I knew the ending wouldn’t give a lot of answers, but I was okay with it. Do you think you know where the car was from? Or what was going on with it?

The end left a bad taste in my mouth. I get the point he trying to make, stories rarley have a clear resolution. I think he did a better job with "Colorado Kid" which had a similar theme but with a non-supernatural topic. You should check it out.

I have several books and audio books on the go! I am reading David Cassidy’s My Story, Memoirs of a geisha, Ring Road by Ian Sansom, Duma Key by Stephen King, Orcs by Stan Nichols and James Herberts The secret of Critchley Hall.
Audio books watership down, upstairs in bedroom, The Book Thief in laptop, Deathly Hallows on stereo in lounge and Cell by stephen King in my car. I pick up which ever one I fancy. Or am I the only nutter to to do this!

Oh I am so glad I am NOT the only one!

I usually have two or three one or two for during the day and one when going to sleep.

I am impressed that you can keep so many audio books straight. I love listening to talk radio and audio books but sometimes my mind races too much when I’m listening and I can’t concentrate.

Besides the one in the car(obviously) what do you do when listening to your various audiobooks?

Im looking into getting a good audio book. What book would you suggest?

Heres a few of my likes and dislikes:

I love horror, but no vampires and no stephen king

i love fantasy (the darker the better)

and i love Historical fiction novels (anytime is interesting but the wars etc, civil, worl war I and II i dont find that interesting, but i love african history-egypt etc

thanks for the recommendations!

"Master and Commander" by Patrick O’brian. It’s historical fiction about the Royal Navy in the early 1800’s. World class literature and very entertaining and educational. It’s the first in a series of 21 novels – I have them all on audio and have read them numerous times.

If you saw the Russell Crowe movie adaption it made a hash of the story.

I have to read a book called "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon," By: Stephen King.
When I read, i understand better when im being read to, so i was wondering if there was a website where you can hear the book?

Thankyyyou ! (:

Don’t know–but Stephen King is popular. Try your local library for a book on tape. This is an awesome book, by the way.

I have the audio book Blood and Smoke, and 1408 is on it. It was subtle and creepy…I thought that the movie was just plain absurd. The story was crap, the acting was sub par and being familiar with the original cast, I thought it was incredibly miscast.

Yeah I actually just watched the movie 1408 Monday night. Was really looking forward to it, but was not at all impressed. I like John Cusack, so I hate to say that this movie disappointed me, but it did.

where can i get a free audio book (aka ebook) of
Stephen Kings – "Duma Key"

Hi

Duma Key is still a very new audio book, so I don’t think you will easily get a free copy. However you could try Stephen Kings website. He might give some copies away or have a look at some quality merchant sites for discount coupons you can use to get Duma Key for less than retail.

For example I’ve just discovered that Hachette Audio USA are giving 6 audio books on CD away to one lucky person. That’s $177.88 worth of audio books!

Have a look at the link below and good luck with finding Duma Key for free.

someone help me please find a link to download Stephen King’s book Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank redemption. Preferably in pdf format, and i dont want an audio book.

It hasn’t yet been released in ebook form (so any copies out there are private scans that have been made public w/o consent from the copyright holders).

The story, "Rita Hayworth & the Shawshank Redemption" is from the book Different Seasons. Booksonboard.com has a list of over 50 ebooks/audiobooks by Stephen King, but that’s not one of them. But they’re always adding new books, so maybe it’ll become available soon.

Hey, does anyone know of a small site or something where the introduction of Stephen King’s "Nightmare’s and Dreamscapes" is? I heard it read on an audio recording a while back and he said some things that inspired me, but I can’t find it anywhere and I can’t get a hold of the book. The internet is huge, there’s gotta be at least a small site where someone’s written what King wrote in his intro. Anyone know where I might find it? Any help you can give would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

I’m a fan of Stephen King’s writing, though more specifically, I enjoy his short stories. I’ve read a few of King’s larger works, but sometimes I just need a quick beginning-to-end read in one night, and books like ‘Skeleton Crew,’ ‘Night Shift’ and ‘Nightmares & Dreamscapes’ fit the bill nicely.

Can anyone suggest a good audio book to listen to while driving (a long 17 hour drive), nothing complicated, a nice easy going story, i don’t want to have to focus on it a lot. I’ve read Dan Brown and Paulo Coelho so i need other writers and I’m not into Stephen King.

Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver got me from NY to NH.
