Does anyone remember the title of a book/audio casette about a puppy who wouldn’t slow down? The book came with the casette and a stuffed version of the puppy (who was purple!), and the story had something to do with a pillow and how the puppy kept messing things up because he wouldn’t take the time to read the instructions….or something. I had a copy sometime in the early 90’s.

I think his name was snaps or something similar.
Does this ring a bell?

Is it the pokey puppy?
i think that’s what it is…Idk though

Years ago I remember my brother getting an audio book from the library which I also ended up hearing.

Some details:
The book focussed on a disabled boy who was really interested in cricket. Being unable to play himself, he used to play the game with small cricket figures who represented players.
The boy has a best friend who he plays these matches with, although I seem to remember that the two they have a fall out at some point.
I also remember there was some bullying experienced by the boy/s from the ’school bully’. The books ending was sad, and I’m fairly sure involved the boy dying, (possibly even before the argument had been properly resolved between the best friends? not certain about that..).

Another odd detail that stays with me is some of the boy’s figures being stamped on and crushed! Can anyone help me work out what this book is?! Any additional details people can remember would be really appreciated.

Possibly Pilcrow, by Adam Mars-Jones?

I remember listening to that audio book too. It was called The Final Test. I seem to remember the disabled boy and his friend played with the figurines, recreating their own version of the bodyline series (I remember one was Larwood, Bradman…). The friend also played cricket for real I think.

For my Girl Scout Gold Award Project I recorded two children’s books onto audio cds. Now that I am finished, I don’t know to what organization I can donate them to. Who can I give these pre-recorded books?

Give them to a local woman’s shelter. The women most likely have children. If at all possible, whatever media the recorded books are on, donate a media player and maybe some batteries.

For example, if the books are on tape, donate a tape player.

I’m in the US, and I’ve searched and searched online. Most of the books seem to be in Traditonal print and have Bo Po Mo Fo rather than pinyin. My ideal books would be bilingual english/chinese, contain pinyin and have a read along audio CD or VCD/DVD. If that isn’t available then just simplified print with CD. I’m learning CHinese but can’t pronounce it very well. I thought I’d learn a few simplified characters, too. But it’s been really hard finding kids books. I really want some that have super bright colors, fun modern pictures and are designed for toddlers and preschoolers. Why do most of the books online seem to have traditional print only? Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU!
Oh and if they didn’t have outrageous shipping to the US that would be preferred. Thanks again!

I have gone to the Library of Congress Copyrights site and was not sure were I should have gone from there, there is so much info to choose from. I would like to have my books copyright, and desire greatly to publish them with voice audio and music.

If you self published, which is what I assume you did, it’s wicked easy. all you have to do is print out the TX or short TX form and the Form Con forms that are on the site, fill them out, and send in 45$ for each, and a nonreturnable copy of your work to the Library of Congress address.

there is no short cut, unless you have an agent…and you make the agent do it for you or they were published by a publishing house….if they were done through a publishing house, then they took care of it for you.

gutenberg has some

Also ask your local library if they have an e-audiobook service. Many libraries provide a service called Overdrive Media.
