For my Birthday, I was given a couple of audio books on cd. On my iPod, there is a place for audio books. My question is this: is there free software – or software in general that allows you to take the cd tracks of the audio books, convert them to audio books, set up chapters, etc. I’m running windows vista.

Here you are i researched this one i think this is a online one which is a bonus to the Viruses and stuff that are hidden.

I read alot od audio books but when a new one comes out i have to wait along time to get it on audio. why does it take so long.

The author has to concent and the publisher has to think it will make money.

Then a professional reader has to be hired and a studio rented.

On the back of audio books who is often reviewing them, such as newspapers etc?
If’s for a UK book so I would be looking for UK based names.
thanks

exactly the same reviewers who review written books – if you want a newpaper review just send copies to the reviewers c/o the newspapers but if you are doing this yourself i can see big problems

if you have recorded someone elses book you have all sorts of copyright problems

if it is a book you have written it is unlikely to be listened to – the reviewers get so many sent to them there is a limit to the number of reviews they can do – they are unlikely to pick an unknown self-published author

My dad has poor eyesight and can no longer read. He has expressed an interest in listening to audio books, and I would like to purchase a cd player and some audio books for him for Christmas. However, I want to be sure I am getting a cd player that will hold its place on the cd when he cuts it off, and also one with fairly easy to use features. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If your dad is legally blind, he is eligible for state services for the visually impaired. Most states have a free library of books on tape or on CD and they provide a simple player as part of this service. Just go to the phone book to the section with your state’s services. There should be an agency for the visually impaired. Call them and see if he qualifies.

I have several audio books that are on C.D. and Cassette. I’m going on a road trip this summer and would like some new ones without having to pay for them especially since I have so many already.

You can use Paperbackswap.com to trade audio books with other people. The site lets you trade paperback, hardcover, or audio books with other people. All you do is post the books you don’t want any more and every time you mail one to somebody else you get a point that you can use to get any book on the site. You can even print postage right from the site so you don’t need to go to the post office.

One of the books i have is called" Recommended Practices for Installation of Underground Liquid Storage Systems," and I just don’t have the time to sit and read through this and all of the other reference books I have for the exam. Is there any location I can obtain copies of such books in audio format and/or practice exams to help me prepare for the exam?

I think you defiantly get audio books of underground storage tank, i know a web where you can get free opportunity to download audio book, by following the below source.

I’m looking for a site that will let me download [or at least listen to] full length audio books. I’ve found a lot of site but they charge anywhere from $20-$35, which is more than the book itself! I don’t want to do any kind of a monthly/ annual subscription. Thanks, cheers.

go to del.ici.ous.com, and type in free audio books.

I want to buy the Audio books for the Lord of the Rings but first I’d like to listen to a sample to see if I like the narrator’s voice. If the sample is free, so much the better!

I’m not sure but try amazon.com because when you look up cds on the website it gives music samples so it might for books.

Some guy said that a lot of stores aren’t stocking them because they’re becoming really expensive and that I would need to look them up in a catolog such as ABC Audio. I’m in the USA, not Europe or Australia. Are audio books still being made and sold in bookstores like Borders and Barnes and Noble.
I hope stores aren’t going to stop stocking them. And again. I’m in the USA, not England or Australia.

Yes I get and own a lot of them and you can buy them from lots of places or try audible.co.uk or audible.com for audio books you can downloaded onto pc, cd’s or ipods
