I don’t know any websites that offer free audiobooks. You might want to check out your local library – they might even let you borrow some!

Several web sites offer online full-texts of books that are out of copyright, e.g. www.gutenberg.org.
However, aside from the copyright owner, which is almost always the author or their publisher, ANYONE who posts the text of these books online is violating both the U.S. and the International Copyright laws, infringing on Intellectual Property, and can be fined and jailed for it. (In general, anything first published within the last 52 years in the U.S. will still be in copyright. When the law was changed, it became copyright duration matched the rest of the work, i.e. the author’s/copyright owner’s lifetime plus 50 years.)

Writers make a living by creating their work. To read or use it without paying for it, is STEALING, pure and simple.
If the work is valuable enough to read, it should be paid for.

LibriVox provides free audiobooks from the public domain. There are several options for listening. The first step is to get the mp3 or ogg files into your own computer:

So if you know any websites, let me know.
Thnks!

(This won’t give you new books for free, or books that are still under copyright. There’s nowhere that you can get those for free legally. It does have older books and books no longer under copyright, though.)

I’ve put a few audio books together and I want to see if I can sell them online.
I’ve made a webs.com website for it but I don’t know how to give the people who buy them a download link.
| don’t know of anywhere I can upload them to safely.

The biggest one is about 1 GB.

thanks!

Forget eBay and forget free webpages. Sorry but it will cost you if you want to sell something online.

Not much mind you, but it will cost you something because you have to load the files to a host and have a payment processor.

I recommend using clickbank.com for this.

You will need to register a domain that is relevant to the topic.

You will need to have a hosting account. I recommend hostgator.com or bluehost.com as they are friendly and professionally helpful with cPanels that are again useful.

You will need to create a sales page that has a shopping cart that links back to clickbank.

You will need to advertise that the site is selling this product.

If you are low on cash, there is always article marketing, blogging and social site advertising for free.

With those you need to create an account at all of the following:

ezinearticles.com
blogger.com
squidoo.com
facebook.com

Once you register with them, you need to create free content that gives some of your best stuff away but leaves some to keep people wanting more.

On the social sites, offer help to others first before you go advertising that you have something you want them to consider buying. Then put up some stuff like "hey, I put up a post on my blog about XYZ, come see". Then on the blog you have some good information and a link to the sales page.

One the other sites you want to just give away your best stuff and have a link directly to the sales page.

Lastly, if you have money you can skip the hard work of the above and just use pay per click on Google. You will need to set up an accoutn for adword and put an ad up there directly to your sales page.

This is grossly simplified, but in essence what needs be done.
