I know there are a bevy of sites for music, any suggestions therein are welcome, but I’m looking for free book downloads. Does anybody know any?
can’t anybody give a brother some help?

There are many legal options to choose from.

I see that Hachette Audio USA and Top Audiobook Downloads are currently giving free audio books away on CD worth $177.88.

You can also download some free titles on their site, compliments of the respected publishers.

I’ve also add some other links to free audio book downloads.
Using torrents is just as bad as stealing. Do your part for a safer Internet for all.

I’ve looked on Gutenburg among many other sites but they either aren’t free or don’t have the books that I’m looking for. I just need something I can download to my ipod and take with me. I tried limewire but they didn’t bring up any audio books for me.

so far all answers given to me have not given me any NEW ish sorta books. I’ve been trying to find one that I could find up to date books not the old classics.

I download audio books from the library to a program provided by the library called Overdrive Media Console on my XP computer with no problem. When I try to do it on my Vista computer, I get a message, No Windows Media Audio Shortcut (WAX) Path Was Included on the Command Line. Any suggestions as to how to solve this problem?

Hi,
I am getting the same problems! Have you found a solution yet? Tech support, so far, has told me to delete all the books from the temporary internet files, then redownload. They think the license may have been corrupted during the download. It didn’t help. If you want to email me, I will continue to share what they send.

Hello Everyone,
I just purchased a new mp3 player and I love reading, and using audio books. Does anyone know a program where I can download audio books by popular authors for free? I’d appreciate any help, thank you very much!! :o )

utorrent will do what you need — allow you to download audiobooks and a lot of other things. Do some reading on how torrrents work before trying to use it, though. For particular torrents, try www.mininova.org or www.piratebay.org.

Limewire will too, but it’s not as good — a lot of viruses there, or so I here.

You can also download lots of files via rapidshare and other file sharing sites on the internet. Join www.warez-bb-org to get access to links to particular titles; it’s free and easy.

For many file downloads, you’ll need to know how to deal with rar files. Download and use winrar to decompress these files.

Hi
I am looking for free audio books that I can download. I looking for self help maybe true crime. I think this would make make my house cleaning go faster and be less boring.

Check with your public library. Mine offers free downloadable audiobooks via a service called netlibrary.com. And if they don’t have downloadable ones, most libraries now own audiobooks (on cassette and CD) that you can check out — give them a try!

I just was wondering if there is an online public library with free audio books

How about the physical library? They should have lots of audio books on CD and audio cassette that you can borrow for free.

I’m currently reading "The Great Gatsby" and i honestly do not have enough time to sit down and read it myself. Is there anyway i could find one of those actors who read the books aloud to the blind? Like a download or audio-book or something?

If the book is out of copyright protection and a volunteer (not an actor, they tend to want to be paid) will read it orally, then Librivox has it.
