I love to listen to audio books and wonder if the Nook is capable of downloading audio books & music? Thanks in advance!

The Nook allow you to listen to music. But if you like to listen to audio books I’ll suggest you the Kindle because it has the text-to-speech function, which means the ebooks you bought it can read to you. The Kindle can play music at background as well, when you’re reading books.

I’ve given a detailed comparison between the Nook and the Kindle previously, in another answer here. Guess it’ll help you decide which one to choose:

And recently, Amazon has announced an upgrade to its Kindle, to secure their market shares. See here for the update details:

I get free songs, but where can I get the free audio books?
Its not piarted. It’s just the sound from Youtube. I have a converter!!!

Jeez, pirating virus-riddled music just isn’t enough for some people.

I am looking for a website where I can pay to stream or download Audio Books. Does anybody know of such a site? More so of popular audio books of fiction/sci-fi/fantasy works that I would find in any good book shop.

Thanks for any help here.

Most publishers are not willing to give audio books away for free. The author needs to be paid, the sound engineers, and the actor that reads the book.

Audible is about the best you can do.

My mom doesn’t have a mp3 player and she was trying to find a site for the downloads so she doesn’t have to uncomfortably sit up and read off th computer..I would really appreciate it…

There also may be something that interest her from the Internet Archives site.

Everything is free and/or public domain.

http://www.archive.org/details/audio

Scroll down a little to Sub-Collections and choose Audio Books and Poetry.

Many you don’t have to download, you can stream right from the website, but there is also the download capability.

There is also sites like http://www.learnoutloud.com/Catalog/Arts-and-Entertainment/Full-Cast-Dramatization

Some files are free, some may cost as much as a hard bound book.

The audio book that i can’t find is on "The Pearl", by John Steinbeck… but when i do find them the books are usually only parts…

http://www.gutenberg.org
Steinbeck’s work is still under copyright, which is why you legally only find portions of The Pearl.
http://www.johnsteinbeck.com
I went to ‘links’ here, of which there are many. I followed a few, but they either no longer exist or aren’t what you want.
http://www.enotes.com
enotes is a terrific site, from which I get much info and you could too, BUT it costs. I pay a monthly fee. For a 90 day trial, you still have to pay $7.95, but if you have a lot of lit work to do, it’s worth it.
http://www.amazon.com
There are 10 new and used audiobooks of The Pearl here for $7.07…

*And there will be free audiobooks of this at your public library.*

YAKiToMe! http://www.yakitome.com is a free website that lets you turn any electronic text into an audio book. It reads in various languages with regionally accented voices. Output is an mp3 that you can download, share, and podcast.

You can get free books in electronic text format to feed to YAKiToMe! at Project Gutenberg http://www.gutenberg.org.

I downloaded an audio book via iTunes for my iPod. When I play it on my iPod, I am able to scroll from track to track no problem, but can’t do that on iTunes on my mac. The funny thing is, at the top on the display it does actually say what chapter is currently playing, while not displaying a track list and when I press the track forward button it simply stops.

Anyway of adjusting it some how?

Why dont you try a new music player with extended fuctionality
