Best Audio Books

I know the Christopher Paolini book came out and I am trying to download the audio book but I can’t find it on amazon or any site. I don’t want the CD just to download the audio file, of course I’ll pay just want to find a place.

i would post copies of an audio book I read to my page but: 1.it is on el salvador, 2. it is on a school server, and 3. it is gone!!! if i can i will make a new one though…

The Los Angeles Library uses http://www.overdrive.com/MediaConsole/ for digital rights management for their audio books. I follow all the instructions for burning a wma data CD but my car’s wma cd player just says "Reading Disc…" and never plays it. The cd player is a wma/mp3 cd player not just a normal CD player.

As far as I know media with DRM protection will not play on any computer except the one you download the file with. However, some DRM file will allow you to burn CD. For overdrive.com, you have to use Windows Media 10 to burn CD. Keep in mind that some DRM files are set to not allow burning CD. You have two choices. 1) transfer the files to a portable mp3 player that can play WMA. 2) Remove the DRM protection. I highly recommend the 1st choice because the 2nd choice is illegal.

Also ask your local library if they have an e-audiobook service. Many libraries provide a service called Overdrive Media.

I have a 45 minute commute to work one way each day and I’d really like to try audio books on my I-pod. What is the best website to download audio books? I want a safe site that wont rip me off. Thanks for the help.

I’ve noticed that there are many websites that let you download audio books for free. Is it legal to download free audio books? If it is legal which sites are legal? I’ve considered downloading some free audio books but I don’t want to download any that aren’t legal to download.

Audio books that are copyright free are legal to download. If they’re under copyright, then it’s illegal. HOWEVER, if you have legally rights to an electronic text, for instance, you can convert that text to speech using a free website like YAKiToMe! http://www.yakitome.com, for instance, and then download that audio file as long as you don’t redistribute the mp3 you downloaded.
