i would like it to be on a cd

Check your local library. I’ve listened to all them by checking them out from my library branch. Sometimes I have to put holds on them from the computer and have them sent to my branch but once I get them I rip them to my computer so I can listen to them anytime I would like.

Must be AA battery powered, but plug in power source would save on batteries while listening at home or in hospital – spend a lot of time there :(

1 GB minimum
Flash drive
USB interface
Resume & Sleep features
Prefer non ‘joystick’ controls.
Recording, radio and screen unnecessary.
No Ipods.
Will use for books downloaded via Overdrive.
$150 or less.

Is such a thing out there somewhere?

If all ‘wish list’ items aren’t possible, what device has the best combination of features for the price range?

Thanks!

Dell has roughly 30 mp3 players for under $150: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/category.aspx?c=us&category_id=5911&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=anav&sort=price&p=1.

It might be a little more expensive with the warranty, but it’s well worth it because if you do pretty much ANYTHING to it, they’ll send you a new one (provided it’s under warranty).

Additionally, I don’t know of many mp3 players that run on AA batteries – most are made with non-removable, rechargeable batteries that can last 5-10 hours (depending on the size of the mp3 player). A rechargeable battery really saves on the cost of batteries.

If you have questions (about the type of models Dell offers and/or which one to get), you can chat with a rep online at support.dell.com.

I am now listening to the audio book "What in the world is Going on." by David Jeremiah….I have to admit it is a well written eye opening book.

I am currently on the Chapter of America in prophecy (or the lack of..)

What good books have you read that you can suggest to me.

I am currently re-reading ‘You’re Next’ by Greg Stier.

I just finished "Gospel Driven Man’ by Ralph "Yankee" Arnold

I would recommend anything by those of these men.

Ok, I have this reading assignment for school, and I need to read the two books: The Crazy Horse Electric Game by Chris Crutcher, and The Sky is Fallung by Kit Pearson. Where could I download an audio verision of these books for FREE? Or at least one of them. If not those, at least give a good source of where to download many, many audio books for free, and maybe I can find a different one! Thanks for the help!

You can’t download current books in written or audio version for free because that is stealing from the author.

Go to a public library where your tax dollars support the author.

I’ve googled till my fingers bleed, trying to find audio books stories about Zombies, but they seem almost impossible to find.

I know about The survival guide and WWZ…..

Are there any others about?

I found one site that has a list of books about zombies, but I’m not sure if there are any audiobook versions available. I guess you could note the titles that interest you and check with Amazon or audiobooks.com and see if they’re available there. Here’s the link:

Hi.

I have been looking to find some sites where I can download audio book files so I can listen to them in my mp3 players.

I’ve looked at itunes and amazon but their prices are really high.

Is there a good site to download audio books at good prices? I’m looking at $5~$10.

Also, is there a torrent or p2p site where I can download audio bookcs for free maybe?

Thanks in advance.

Try http://www.audible.com .

Also, check with your public library. Mine subscribes to netlibrary.com and has downloadable ebooks and audiobooks — for free.

I have searched Google and Yahoo! both and found very good quality audio books. However, I am looking for one series in particular. Can someone help me find a free audio book online of the Twilight Saga? This would be very much appreciated.

You can’t download Twilight for free. That steals from the author who deserves to make a living.

"In a civil suit, an infringer may be liable for a copyright owner’s actual damages plus any profits made from the infringement. Alternatively, the copyright owner may avoid proving actual damage by electing a statutory damage recovery of up to $30,000 or, where the court determines that the infringement occurred willfully, up to $150,000. The actual amount will be based upon what the court in its discretion considers just. (17 U.S.C. 504)

Violation of copyright law is also considered a federal crime when done willfully with an intent to profit. Criminal penalties include up to ten years imprisonment depending on the nature of the violation. (No Electronic Theft Act, 18 U.S.C. 2319)"

Out of copyright books can be downloaded.

I am looking to purchase an iPod for my Mom for Christmas. She wants it primarily to download audio books. Is a 8GB Nano sufficient? What is the typical size of audio book files?

That depends on the kind of eBook that your mom listens to. Looking at my own playlist, I have lengthy ones like The Wheel of Time book 1 at 660 MB, while short magazine-type ones like an issue of The Economist at 180 MB.

The thing with eBooks as well is that once you finish a book, you normally don’t listen to it again anytime soon (or ever) unlike songs that you can keep in your iPod and listen to repeatedly. Most likely she’ll remove the older eBooks that she finished already, and thus will not need to keep them sitting around in her iPod taking up space.

If your mom doesn’t plan on stuffing it with thousands of songs, I’d say 8 GB is more than enough.
